Alcon AcrySof ReSTOR Intraocular Lens Implant
East Valley Ophthalmology is excited
to share with you an amazing update in lens
implant technology:
The need for reading glasses or bifocals as we age
may begin fading from sight with the latest generation
of intraocular lenses, the Alcon AcrySof ReSTOR lens.
East Valley Ophthalmology is among the first to receive
the ReSTOR lens, a new surgically implanted lens that
allows patients to see near, intermediate and far distances
without glasses or contacts.
It's a huge evolutionary step. We all want a
glasses-free and contact lens-free society and we are
very rapidly moving toward that. Reducing the
need for reading glasses after cataract removal, without
compromising distance vision, has been a goal of ophthalmology
for many years. Until now, the vast majority
of patients who undergo cataract surgery received a
monofocal IOL, which typically requires them to carry
around reading glasses so they can read a newspaper,
menu or medicine bottle, or do other things that require
close vision.
For the first time in the history of ophthalmology,
with this new technology, 80% of patients who
choose the ReSTOR lens can be completely independent
of glasses for all daily activities.
If you are interested in seeing your best without
glasses, please contact East Valley Ophthalmology
and we will evaluate the appropriateness of
this technology for you. We will
discuss the benefits, risks and costs. As always,
East Valley Ophthalmology strives
to provide the latest proven solutions to protect
and restore vision for you and your loved ones.
