Neal A. Nirenberg, MD practices comprehensive ophthalmology at East Valley
Ophthalmology, seeing patients of all ages and with varied eye problems.
Dr. Nirenberg graduated the University of Florida with a BS degree, Phi Beta
Kappa after only three years of study. He then went on to the University of
Miami School of Medicine and received his Doctor of Medicine. He
did his internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston Texas followed by a
Ophthalmology Residency at the Hermann Eye Center, also in Houston Texas.
He entered private practice, becoming a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons and receiving his certification from the American Board
of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Nirenberg has enjoyed a wide scope of practice and preforms a variety of operative procedures. These range from state of the art cataract surgery, to retinal laser procedures, to oculoplastic procedures for a number of different eyelid disorders. He has published articles on esotropia, "crossed eyes", and on various aspects of cataract surgery.
Outside of Ophthalmology Dr. Nirenberg has many interests. He loves to
travel and has visited many foreign countries. He is fluent in both English
and Spanish. He has many athletic interests including the martial arts,
jogging and skiing. He has two black belts in Tae kwon Do and is a certified
SCUBA diver, having dived from the Bahamas to Mexico to Hawaii and Fiji.
These days much of his free time is spent helping his wife raise their three
young children.
